What makes Colorado different
The point bands themselves are steep and they are statutory rather than administrative. They run from nothing at the smallest margins through to a very large figure at the top, against a threshold reached inside twelve months — steep enough that a single citation at the highest band is a suspension on its own, with no accumulation required.
At the far end the charge changes character. A large enough margin over the limit is a misdemeanor traffic offence rather than an infraction, and a higher class again in a work zone. The callout above gives the statutory line for this state; the fine schedule on this page does not price what sits above it.
