The Missouri hands-free and distracted driving statute
Under RSMo § 304.820, drivers on public roads may not hold, support, or manually operate electronic communication devices while operating a motor vehicle on active roadways. Siddens Bening Hands Free Law; moving violation points assessed.
Law enforcement officers throughout Missouri are authorized to issue citations whenever visual observation confirms prohibited device interaction. Permissible mobile use is generally restricted to manufacturer-installed integrated dashboard interfaces, single-tap voice activation, or true hands-free speakerphone arrangements mounted securely to the vehicle console.
