What makes Nevada different
The advertised fine is also only part of the bill. Administrative assessments and fees are added on top of the amount a driver is quoted, and on a routine citation they can roughly double it. Anyone budgeting from the fine alone is reading about half the number.
The third thing is a trap about ordering rather than about eligibility. A Nevada driver can take a Department of Motor Vehicles approved traffic safety course to remove points once in a twelve-month period — but not where the course came out of a plea bargain with the court. Doing things in the wrong sequence can spend the option without getting it.
